### Classic Custard Pie

Here’s a simple and delicious custard pie recipe for you to try!

### Classic Custard Pie

**Ingredients:**

- **For the Pie Crust:**

- 1 Unroll Short Crust Pastry Sheet

- **For the Custard Filling:**

- 2 large eggs

- 1 1/4 cups whole milk (or half-and-half for a richer custard)

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar

- 1 tsp vanilla extract

- 1/4 tsp salt

- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg (optional, but traditional for custard pie)

---

**Instructions:**

1. **Prepare the Custard Filling:**

- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and nutmeg (if using) until smooth.

2. **Assemble the Pie:**

- Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Press the dough into the pan and trim any excess.

- Pour the custard filling into the prepared pie crust.

3. **Bake:**

- Bake the pie for about 40–45 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. You may need to cover the crust edges with foil or a pie shield after 20–25 minutes if it starts to brown too much.

4. **Cool and Serve:**

- Let the pie cool at room temperature for at least an hour before slicing. The custard will firm up as it cools.

- Serve plain, or with a dollop of whipped cream or a dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg on top.

Enjoy your homemade custard pie!
